Frequently Asked Questions:
Where does the merchandise come from?
The Boutique, along with our free Women’s Career Closet, is stocked with clothing and accessories—much of it new—donated by individuals and area retailers. Volunteers sort through clothing donations weekly. Most items are placed in the free Women’s Career Closet, while other merchandise is deemed suited for the Boutique. Note that select high-end fashion items are consigned at local resale shops, where proceeds from item sales are donated to the Women’s Empowerment Center to help fund its programs.
Can anyone shop the Boutique, or do I have to be a YWCA member?
The Boutique is open to the public, and visits are unlimited.
What is the price range for Boutique items?
Boutique merchandise is available for a suggested minimum donation per item. Most items are $3.00 and $5.00, with a select group of designer items at $10.00. Most accessories are available for a $2.00 donation.
Can I pay for my selections with a check or credit card?
Transactions are cash only. There is a no-fee ATM at a nearby Shell Station, 510 S. Monroe Avenue.
Are there any special sales?
Be sure to watch for special sale events where excess inventory is available for reduced pricing!
Where is the Madison Street Boutique located?
The Boutique is located in the Women’s Empowerment Center on the 2nd floor of the YWCA. Park in the YWCA parking lot (corner of Stuart & Madison) and take the Stuart Street elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor.
How are the monetary donations used?
All revenue from the Madison Street Boutique is reinvested into the Women’s Empowerment Center, helping to ensure that the free Women’s Career Closet, along with other WEC programs, will continue empowering women in our community.
When can I drop off donations for the Boutique or the Women’s Career Closet?
Donations may be dropped off at the Member Services desk anytime the YWCA is open. Tax receipts are available.
