  • Come join our team that focuses on advocating for women and children! The YWCA is a trusted organization that is dedicated to empowering women and families and centers on providing the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

    Our early childhood team is looking for a dependable, enthusiastic, and innovative Cook and Nutrition Coordinator. In this role you will oversee the operations of the food program including hygiene, meal planning and preparation, food distribution to classrooms, record keeping and all kitchen operations.

    Training will be provided. This is a great role for someone who enjoys the kitchen, is seen as a rock star to kids in care, and likes being done with work early in the day!

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    · Prepares nutritious meals and snacks for enrolled children; modifies menus and recipes and prepares foods to meet the needs of children with food allergies.

    · Distribute food to the classrooms before scheduled meal times.

    · Practices safe food handling techniques in food preparation and storage.

    · Plans for the purchases of all food and necessary supplies needed to provide food service for approval by Program Director.

    · Works in collaboration with the Program Director/Program Support Coordinator to plan weekly menus in accordance with the number of enrolled children and scheduled staff within budget.

    · Inventories and maintains necessary supplies and goods for assigned meals.

    · Operates standard cooking equipment.

    · Meets CCFP (Child Care Food Program) requirements.

    · May be asked to assist children in a classroom if teacher is needed outside of the classroom.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    · High School Diploma or a General Educational Development certificate.

    · Food Handlers Certificate is preferred or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.

    · ServSafe certification preferred or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire

    · Course work and training in foods, nutrition and/or dietetics preferred.

    · Experience in child food service preparation is desirable.

    PHYSICAL AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    · Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

    · Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.

    · Manual dexterity sufficient to: use kitchen utensils and equipment, cleaning chemicals, wash dishes, operate office equipment including, but not limited to, the telephone & copier, and use hand writing materials to prepare reports and documentation.

    · Ability to calculate to determine number of meals to be served and to adjust recipes and serving portions.

    · Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community.

    Work Schedule: Part-time, Flexible, Monday through Friday, mostly during day

    General Responsibilities: Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for quality fitness programming in areas of land and/or water instruction. Instructors must be service oriented and exhibit a positive attitude with Clients and Staff.

    • Strong communication skills to work with a variety of populations

    • Must be able to show and explain proper technique

    • Well organized

    • In good physical condition

    • Ability to develop routines for teaching specific classes

    • Educational background in related field and/or strong experience in teaching fitness classes

    • CPR and first aid certification or willing to acquire such at our cost

    As the Director of Women’s Programs, you will shape and drive strategic initiatives that advance gender equity and racial justice across eight dimensions of wellness: spiritual, emotional, occupational, intellectual, physical, social, financial, and environmental. You will lead a dynamic team of program coordinators, interns, exercise instructors, and volunteers; build and sustain community partnerships; and serve as a passionate advocate for systemic change.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Leadership

    • Develop and implement the vision for the Women’s Empowerment department.

    • Serve on the senior leadership team to align programs with YWCA’s mission and values.

    • Program Development & Management

    • Design, execute, and continuously evaluate programs in leadership development, wellness and exercise, economic empowerment, and healing spaces.

    • Guide decisions on program launch, adaptation, or sunset based on community needs and impact.

    • Team & Department Oversight

    • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff, interns, and volunteers.

    • Oversee departmental budget, payroll approvals, and financial performance.

    • Partnerships & Advocacy

    • Cultivate relationships with schools, businesses, non-profits, and advocacy groups.

    • Represent the YWCA at forums, community events, and in grant or sponsorship proposals.

    • Communications & Fundraising

    • Collaborate with Communications to develop promotional strategies and materials.

    • Work with Development to identify and pursue grants, sponsorships, and fundraising opportunities.

    • Equity & Inclusion

    • Create policies and practices that remove barriers and foster an inclusive environment.

    • Stay informed on political, social, and community trends affecting women and marginalized groups.

    Qualifications:

    • Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, Public Health, Human Rights, or related field (Master’s preferred).

    • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in program management or community organizing (non-profit experience strongly preferred).

    • Skills & Competencies

    • Visionary leadership, critical thinking, resilience, and collaborative team building.

    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to relate to diverse communities.
