Women’s Career Closet

Established in 1993, the Women’s Career Closet provides free, work-appropriate clothing to area women.

Whether preparing for an interview or building a wardrobe for an existing job, women may visit the Women’s Career Closet up to four times per calendar year. There are approximately 2,000 visits to the Women’s Career Closet each year.

Tuesday: 11:00 – 5:00 pm
Wednesday: 11:00 – 5:00 pm
Thursday: 11:00 – 5:00 pm

Special group appointments are available for those participating in work readiness or customer service programs.   • To qualify for the Women’s Career Closet, clients must be currently employed or actively seeking employment with scheduled interviews. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements, we can provide other supportive services. Clients must be 18 years or older. Generous donations from local individuals and organizations make this program possible.

  • The Women’s Career Closet carries primarily business casual and professional clothing (tops, pants, suits, dresses, coats, shoes/boots, gloves, scarves, belts, jewelry and handbags). Dressier items are available for special occasions in the YWCA’s Madison Street Boutique. Scrubs may be selected twice a year if required for an interview or a job. Items that do not meet the Women’s Career Closet criteria are used in our Madison Street Boutique or re-donated to other non-profit organizations in the greater Green Bay area. Some high-end fashion items may be consigned at local resale shops with the proceeds reinvested into the Women’s Career Closet operation.

  • Guests may visit the Women’s Career Closet by appointment anytime during regular hours up to 4 times per calendar year.

  • Guests are required to provide proof of Wisconsin residency at each visit – ID, letter, or bill. If a guest has an upcoming interview, it is helpful to bring a letter providing the details of the interview – date, location, etc.

  • The Women’s Career Closet is located at 230 S. Madison St in the Women’s Empowerment Center on the 2nd floor of the YWCA. Use the Stuart Street entrance (corner of Stuart & Madison) and take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor.

  • Donations may be dropped off at the Member Services desk anytime the YWCA is open. Donation receipts for tax purposes are provided.Contact us with questions or for more information.
