Language is a powerful vehicle of communication, this Where We Live conversation  includes experts in race relations and linguistics unpacking numerous ways that language has been used to create prejudice, discrimination and antagonism against people of a different race or ethnicity. Participants will be offered solutions for ways language can be used to heal.

Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr.

Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. has pursued and achieved success in academia, business, diversity, leadership and community service. In 1996, he started America & MOORE, LLC to provide comprehensive diversity, privilege and leadership trainings and workshops. Unpacking numerous ways that language has been used to create prejudice, discrimination and antagonism against people of a different race or ethnicity.

Melissa Borowicz is the CEO and an Owner of The Utech Group. With over 16 years of experience working with organizations across the United States and Canada, Melissa is an expert at defining corporate culture and helping organizations maximize and align their teams and people.

Andrea Huggenvik

Andrea Huggenvik is the Social Justice Programs Specialist at the YWCA.  She is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (an internationally renowned assessment instrument that assesses a person’s mindset related to culture.)  She has formal training in psychology and student development.  She has worked in student affairs at schools across the United States in coaching and student development roles.  After ten years, she left student affairs to take on a role in workforce development providing customized training and consultation to businesses across northern Wisconsin.  Her approach to diversity and inclusion work combines these skills to create effective, science-backed, developmental trainings that work for businesses and organizations.
