The 2020 Women of Vision Luncheon was held virtually on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote.
2020 Speakers
Carol J. Bruess, Ph.D.
Carol J. Bruess (rhymes with “peace”), Ph.D., is Professor Emerita of Communication and Journalism and formerly Director of Family Studies at the University of St. Thomas, MN. She currently serves as Resident Scholar in the Cassandra Voss Center for equity, identity, and dialogue-across-difference at St. Norbert College, WI.
For more than 26 years as a professor, researcher, author and speaker, Carol’s primary passions are in studying how families, couples, and members of all relationships create joy, happiness, longevity, and connection through micro-moments of interaction and ritual. She is particularly passionate about studying and understanding how the digital age (yikes!) is impacting our abilities to have healthy lives, fabulous relationships, and robust conversations.
Sharon Resch
Sharon Resch started her journey in a very poor neighborhood in Minneapolis, MN where she was surrounded by people who needed help. She knew she wanted to make a difference, so using her determination, she leveraged her talent for dance to attend school and eventually earn a master’s degree in mathematics.
After an impressive career, including the Chicago Opera Ballet and working on the Gemini Missile Project, she now has a second career dedicated to philanthropy – where she spends her time supporting the arts & women-focused initiatives across the state of Wisconsin. Sharon says she will always support the arts, but over the years, she’s seen an even greater need for humanitarian assistance. The list of causes she supports are vast and include, of course, the YWCA Greater Green Bay.

Dedication of the Day
“Dedications of the Day” is a longstanding tradition of the YWCA Women of Vision Luncheon. Since 1998 this tradition of surprise has honored distinguished area women chosen by their peers as true Women of Vision! The suggested donation is $200 and all nominations are due by Tuesday, August 4. Please contact the YWCA Development Team to submit your nomination. Jasmine Gordon
Our first nominee has been a steady backdrop of everything fantastic going on at the YWCA in recent years. She is supportive, service-hearted, and has the integrity, positivity, and can-do attitude that make her an integral part of the YWCA team.
Chris Woleske
Chris has shattered glass ceilings and demonstrated amazing leadership in a male-dominated field. She is quick to take a backseat due to her remarkable self-confidence, and she has cast a spotlight on Lulu Bellin as an early supporter of the YWCA.
Sharon Resch
Sharon also tends to take a backseat to work quietly in the shadows and act as a conduit for change. She carried the torch for our Campaign of the Century, bringing us across the finish line. We are honored to soon have our building named after her.
