Families of Distinction
Families of Distinction are honored during a dinner and live broadcast held every year. The 2008 Families of Distinction Awards Program was held on March 11, 2008. The YWCA hosted the awards in partnership with corporate sponsors, UnitedHealthcare and WBAY TV-2. The purpose of the Families of Distinction Awards Program is to identify and honor exemplary families who may serve as inspirational models for other families.
A Selection Committee reviews nomination forms submitted by members of the community and families are chosen based on qualities such as mutual love and respect, a sense of responsibility to the community, and courage and optimism in the face of difficulty.
