Life, Inc.

YWafterschool

Life, Inc. is a program designed to help boys and girls at the middle and high school level gain confidence in making decisions about their futures. The program, which has a special focus on low-income and at-risk children, prepares youth for the future by empowering them to begin to make informal decisions and begin to set life goals.

One of the key components of Life, Inc. is self discovery.  Students access their likes and dislikes, what they are good at and what interests them.  Through career visioning, students discuss the careers they are familiar with and those that peak their interests.  The career readiness component of the program allows them to determine what skills, education and experience they need to fulfill their career goals.  Students also gain exposure to careers through guest speakers and field trips to businesses in the community.

The Life, Inc. program is scheduled to begin in schools in fall 2011. Sessions will run through the school year.  A summer camp is also held.
