Women's Closet

YWwc

Established in 1993, the YWCA Women's Closet provides work-appropriate clothing for low-income women who are seeking employment, in a new job or going to school.

Women may visit the Closet four times per year or when they are newly hired for a job.  In addition to clothing, the Closet offers coats, shoes, accessories, jewelry and undergarments.  The goal of the program is to prepare women for employment and boost their self-esteem by helping them "dress for success."

The Women's Closet relies on donations of gently used clothing from women in the community.  More than 1,000 donations are received from individuals and company sponsored drives each year.

In the last year, 1,700 visitors used the Women's Closet.  Visitors are referred by friends and also by a number of local agencies including the Wisconsin Job Center, the Golden House, and Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin.

Current Women's Closet hours are:

Tuesdays         1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Wednesdays    3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Donations of clothing are accepted anytime the during YWCA business hours.  For more information on the Women's Closet, please contact Judy Lehnert, Economic Empowerment Coordinator, at 432-5581, ext. 129.
